This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) \"choke\". This choke, or suppression capability, keeps the EMI inside the wire where it cannot interfere with other electronics on your vehicle.
